Stay
with a teacher program
A stay on our small farm is a chance to take a break, visit
the wild west coast of Vancouver Island and improve your spoken English at
the same time. Spend your days with your own private English teacher.
Relax in this serene beautiful place, eat 3
nutritious
meals a day made with local organic produce and enjoy our pure drinking water.
Visit local beaches and rivers, hike, fish,
surf, bike and walk the many forest trails or just spend some time with
our alpacas and other animals.
Language Instruction
One-on-one language instruction is effective when you are
immersed in the language and culture all day, every day. This active learning is accompanied by more
formal instruction with a focus on your specific language requirements for
work and study.
In natural language
learning, every
conversation presents a learning opportunity. Your
teacher will note your speaking difficulties and help you practise
pronunciation and grammar through every day conversation. We will spend
the day together taking care of the organic vegetable garden, the animals
and preparing food. There are beaches and forest trails to explore and
comfortable places for you to read, use a computer, or just enjoy the
peaceful surroundings.

Hi, I am
Veronica,
your host and teacher
. (that's
me at lower left)
This photo was taken at my last job at the University of Victoria where I
worked for ten years as a teacher in the English Language Centre. I have three
nationalities as I was born in the UK, raised in Canada and I spent almost 20
years teaching in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I have a Master’s degree in Brazilian
history and a BA in Linguistics, Hispanic and Cultural Studies. At present, I
teach students who come to stay at Malahat Farm.
I enjoy working in the garden, looking after our animals, cooking, reading and
walking the many forest trails surrounding the farm.

I am Roy,
your other host at Malahat Farm.
I was born in Canada and am a native speaker of English. I have a degree
in archaeology and have worked as a geophysicist in the Middle East, Asia
and Africa, Canada and the United States. I have travelled to many
countries and have always enjoyed meeting and talking with the people I
meet.
I am a photographer and graphic designer working from my studio here at
the farm, operating Vivencia
Resources Group design and publishing services. I enjoy
gardening and tending to the animals. I especially enjoy eating the fresh
produce we grow. I am happy to accompany you on walks and engage you in
conversation or you can help me in the garden while we talk. |
